PASTARIA, part of James Beard Award-Winning chef Gerard Craft’s family of restaurants, is a delicious and affordable spot to get house-made pasta made with 100% organic semolina.

Sourcing local and sustainable ingredients is made easier through the bulk orders Pastaria shares with Sardella, their neighbor and sister restaurant. Mushrooms come from Ozark Forest, and tomatoes, squash, sweet potatoes, turnips, and more are seasonally purchased from local vendors. Their pasture-raised chicken and eggs come from Double-Star Farms, and a good deal of their red meat comes from heritage breeds – all of their red meat is grass-fed. Vegetables get a lot of love at Pastaria, and it shows with their variety of vegetarian and vegan options, which change seasonally.

The décor is comfortable and inviting, with brick ovens blazing in the open-air kitchen, repurposed barnwood tables, and candlelight illuminating the room in the evenings, allowing for their LED lights to be dimmed, saving energy while creating ambiance.

Pastaria reduces its waste footprint through a variety of strategies, including composting all of their kitchen scraps and customer scraps. They even serve compostable straws to reduce single-use plastic waste! They also save on paper waste through laminating their ordering lists, opening and closing lists, and making their applications available online. They save on food waste through clever and artistic strategies like making their own pepperoni and Canadian bacon, reducing the amount of meat wasted from each animal. Their lunch menus include half-sized pizzas, dramatically reducing food waste from their customers.

Pastaria showcases other local businesses by serving their products – you can get Sump coffee or beer from Side Project, Schlafly, Civil Life, 4 Hands, Urban Chestnut, and Perennial to accompany your meal.

Pastaria is a participant in GiftAMeal, a program that markets restaurants while feeding the hungry in St. Louis. On the GiftAMeal app, each time someone takes a photo at a partner restaurant, a meal is provided to someone in need through Operation Food Search.

Treat yourself and your family to one of St. Louis’s favorite restaurants and taste the sustainability with every bite!
