Drop in on Kitchen House Coffee, this neighborhood coffee spot in Tower Grove East and enjoy hearty, local foods paired with Blueprint espresso and Kitchen House’s very own drip/pour-over coffee roasted at First Crack. They bring urban farming to South City plates, using produce from their own farm, located around the corner from the shop! During the growing season, spinach, kale, lettuces, zucchini, squash, peppers, tomatoes, herbs, and more from the farm are used in their house made sodas, lattes, smoothies, soups, and sandwiches. Kitchen House Farm also has plenty of lavender and produced 240 lbs. of honey in 2021 from its two beehives, which sit on top of the chicken coop. Be sure to enjoy one of their honey or lavender lattes and enjoy the sweet taste of locally sourced goods.

Kitchen House Coffee raises their own backyard chickens at their farm and behind their shop which you can see when you visit!  Hard boiled eggs come from their own backyard chickens, and Buttonwood Farms supplements the rest for breakfast sandwiches and platters. They compost their kitchen scraps and customer scraps when possible for use on their urban farm, and feed their backyard chickens leftovers nearing an expiration date. Keeping food scraps out of the landfill reduces methane emissions while creating useful soil – a win-win situation for plants and the planet!

To conserve water, Kitchen House Coffee has drinking water available for customers at a convenient self-serve tap at the checkout counter – no plastic bottles of water are available for sale. You can bring in your own mug for a 10¢ discount on your drink to save yourself some cash and avoid sending paper coffee cups (which can never be recycled) to the landfill. During the summer they make their own sodas in-house, some are flavored with ingredients – like lavender – from their farm!

Along with Kitchen House Coffee’s commitment and passion for sustainability, locally grown food, and locally sourced coffee is their commitment to their community and staff.  They held their very own art show featuring art exclusively from their staff, host community plant giveaways, and provide breakfast for the teachers at Shenandoah Elementary for teacher appreciation day.  They are involved in numerous community organizations including The Sustainable Backyard Tour, Missouri Beekeepers Association, Backyard Chickens STL, TentMissionSTL and Friends of the Rainforest.

Kitchen House Coffee, open daily from 7 am – 1:30 pm, is decorated with upcycled and repurposed materials; the tables are made from old school bleachers and repurposed metal is used to make the table stands. Pretty much everything in the shop is reused material. The shop is unique and welcoming; a perfect place to get some work done, read up on sustainability and beekeeping with books from their library, and get to know your neighbors.
