Kiss Me On the Bus: Crushin’ on Transit

Citizens for Modern Transit are showing their love for our Metrolink system with their second annual Transit Crush on February 11th; participants will display their PDA for public transportation flash mob style, taking selfies with the hashtag #cmttransitcrush on both red and blue lines, (meet-up times and locations highlighted in red below).

2016’s Transit Crush includes scavenger hunts, prizes, and free t-shirts for those who register early! The event ends at the Eclipse restaurant in the U-City Loop, just a few blocks away from the red line’s Delmar stop.

Using transit can be a romantic way to show your love for a significant other on any date-night. It’s not possible or legal to gaze into your loved one’s eyes while driving a car, and having an extra glass of wine with dinner is a lot safer when transit is there to escort your date home.

Single-occupant vehicular use is responsible for a significant chunk of carbon emissions – according to the Federal Transit Administration, the average passenger vehicle emits about a pound of carbon dioxide for every mile traveled. Caring about your beloved means caring about their health and future, so grab your date’s hand and climb the steps onto a Metrolink Platform whenever you can avoid driving.

Luckily for the lovestruck environmentalist in you, plenty of GDA restaurants are conveniently located along bus routes or a few minute’s stroll away from a Metrolink station. Use our interactive map or email the GDA Program Manager for help planning your transit route to a GDA certified restaurant.
