GDA reviews ‘Going Green for the Genius,’ is featured as resource

Written and published July 2015 by Olivia Engel, Green Dining Alliance Program Coordinator

Open the cover of this newly published book by St. Louis author Katie Belisle-Iffrig to see the growing influence of the Green Dining Alliance in print. Program Coordinator Olivia Engel is quoted first, with her review of the material:

Finally, a holistic and comprehensive approach to sustainability that can be read in the classroom or kept as a reference book for the home. With a positive focus on the on-going, ever-changing nature of sustainability, readers can feel empowered with knowledge when they shop, dine, and make decisions for their family. What’s perhaps more impressive is the author’s ability to state our responsibilities – something so many are afraid to do – while remaining approachable, friendly, and helpful.

Written with an emphasis on personal action and empowerment (hence “for the Genius” vs. ‘for dummies’), this “action guide” walks you through all aspects of sustainable living. Part 5 of the 6-part manifesto is titled Eat, Drink, Garden, with chapters focused on organic gardening, microbrewing, and more.

In Eat, Drink Garden’s chapter “Your Local Foodshed,” Belisle-Iffrig cites the GDA as an example of an organization focused on sustainable action:
