Ballwin cafe, The Wolf Public House, earns 4 stars.

Diverting 95% of their food waste from area landfills, The Wolf Public House is West St. Louis County’s sustainable coffee, cafe and music venue. Meatless Mondays are a feature, which you can enjoy in a rustic and active lifestyle community atmosphere. In addition to groovy vibe and artisan coffee, The Wolf Public House focuses on serving fresh and local foods with an impressive selection of craft beer, wine and spirits. You’ll also find plenty of organic options. Seven out of the 12 beers on tap were local craft brews when we visited this month to perform our certification audit, and it was clear that they have a serious commitment to environmental and human health.

Education and awareness are a big part of the GDA certification. It’s important that both patrons and employees understand a restaurant’s green goals. It’s also a way to introduce sustainability concepts to more people.

The Wolf Public House is definitely a community gathering place. It’s easy to feel that when you first walk in.

Nothing to hide in GDA-certified member restaurants’ kitchens. Here the Blue Skies Recycling yellow tote for hauling away organic waste to be composted is front and center.
